Job Purpose
The warden role is an important representative of the Residence Life team living on site. The warden will demonstrate a thorough and in-depth knowledge of the site and build strong relationships with both site security and accommodation teams. The warden will work closely with the wider Residence Life Team, specifically team members delivering events and welfare support within the residences. You will work closely with the wider team to ensure students are following fire safety guidance on site and will at times support colleagues in relation to behaviour and welfare management as and when required. You will also support your site, the wider Residence Life team and accommodation services with induction, arrivals and promotional activities
Your role will be front facing and student focused. You will provide support and direction and be passionate about student welfare and student experience. Your input will be vital in ensuring there is a holistic understanding of Student Experience on site.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support and contribute to Residence Life induction, arrival activities, and student orientation events, including open days and information sessions, helping create a welcoming and engaging environment OR ensuring a smooth transition for new students OR fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
2. Offer guidance and support for orientation, student welfare and behaviour concerns and escalating more complex issues to appropriate colleagues/departments where necessary.
3. Act as the primary contact for the Events and Social Responsibility team, providing site specific information and facilitating student engagement in ResLife events. On occasion assist with the organising of event and activities for residents.
4. Play a key role in enforcing accommodation policies and procedures relating to behaviour and fire safety.
5. Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues across Glasgow, Sanctuary and private provider sites, as well as Residential Life and Site Management teams, to share knowledge, identify trends and promote best practice for smooth operations.
6. Maintain regular communication with your line manager ensuring timely issue escalation and a clear understanding of responsibilities to support an efficient and effective working environment.
7. Direct students to appropriate university support services, maintaining up to date knowledge of available resources, policies and procedures to provide informed guidance.
8. Provide site knowledge to support your line manager in the developing of policies and protocols.
9. Provide site orientation to new members of staff and support with their understanding of systems and processes on site.
10. On occasion, support with checking in students arriving out of hours.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role OR Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge and understanding of experiences of students living in halls of residence or young people living away from home for the first time.
A3 Knowledge of how mental health and wellbeing impacts young people.
A4 Ability to demonstrate an understanding of how to create strong and cohesive relationships.
Skills

E1 Experience in coaching, training, mentoring or providing guidance and direction to adults, young people or peers.
E2 Experience in managing a diverse workload and competing demands.
Terms and Conditions

All your living expenses (rent and utility bills) will be covered. You will also receive a payment of between £2000-£2600 PA, pro-rated.

This post is part time (6.65 hours per week) and fixed term for up to Hard end date
