Job description

Job Purpose

The postholder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the UKRI funded Community Food Market Project, working closely with residents, community organisations, project partners and research team. The role will focus on developing and sustaining positive relationships, supporting community engagement and research activities, while providing an effective administration and reporting service.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and sustain strong relationships with community members, , participating households, residents, local community organisations, and project partners  to build trust and foster collaboration to support the success of the project.

2.  Participate in meetings related to community engagement, participant recruitment, and retention, representing the project in a professional and approachable manner.

3. Work proactively with the research team to ensure equality groups are equitably represented in all engagement and consultation activities and promote inclusive practices in line with the project’s values and policies.

4. Apply and adhere to the National Standards for Community Engagement in the planning, development and delivery of all community engagement activities.

5. Support activities relating to the establishment and implementation of, and engagement with, the market and this research project, including weekend engagement as required.

6. Assist with research activities with participants following appropriate supervision and training.

7. Manage accurate and timely administration procedures including; documentation of recruitment progress, budget monitoring aspects, maintenance of records and databases, contribute to progress reports and papers as appropriate and ensure compliance with data protection guidelines.

8.Contribute to internal and external team/group meetings/seminars/workshops and Institute research group activities to enhance the wider knowledge, outputs and culture of the Community Food Market project aims.

9. Adhere to safeguarding procedures including raising concerns where appropriate through agreed channels of reporting.

10. Engage in supervision, training and any reasonable professional development activities as appropriate.

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 7 [Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3, Higher National Certificate] or equivalent qualification, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2. Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role and/or through expertise by experience and evidence of personal development in previous roles.

 

Desirable

B1. The Elementary Food Hygiene course (Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF))

B2. Knowledge and understanding of food policy and practice in Scotland.

Experience

Essential

E1. Knowledge of local communities (Govan and Cranhill, Glasgow)

E2. Relevant experience working or volunteering in an organisation that supports food insecurity, health and community wellbeing or similar service in community settings.

E3  Good understanding of the challenging circumstances facing many communities, developed through experience in a community engagement or community development role.

E4. Experience of multi-disciplinary working including partnerships with external organisations OR willingness to develop awareness.

E5. Excellent IT skills, including Excel, Word and networked systems.

 

Desirable

F1. Experience of community development approaches

F3. Experience working in a research or academic environment.

F4. Experience with recruitment of community participants for food related activities

 

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 5, £27,319 - £31,236 per annum, pro rata.

 

This post is part time (17.5 hours per week, shifts will be between Monday to Saturday) and fixed term until 12th January 2028.
