Job description
Job Purpose
To train under the modern apprenticeship programme you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations across our busy office. You will be providing first-line support across the team while developing valuable skills in office systems, communication, and coordination. Through appropriate training and development you will gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting issues, assisting staff with technical queries and learning from experienced professionals. You will experience being part of development and transformation projects and learn the stages of system implementations whilst gaining experience using software to deliver operational and performance reporting, contributing to data quality and standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop your understanding of how effective application management and support contributes to the delivery of the digital strategy.
2. Undertake training to be able to deliver a responsive and user-focused application development and support service, following agreed procedures and liaising with colleagues and suppliers as required.
3. Carry out tasks for the management and housekeeping of applications under the supervision of colleagues.
4. Assist with scheduled, regular and ad hoc tasks for the administration, management and housekeeping of applications.
5. Champion the use of digital technology and help colleagues to maximise the benefits it provides.
6. Assist with the administration and organisation of events, such as team days, conferences and any other events that may be required.
7. Assist with administrative support for meetings to ensure effective support.
8. Help with general administrative support (e.g. scanning, photocopying, ordering, electronic filing, arranging meetings) contributing to the smooth operation and management of the office.
9. Undertake any other duties as assigned by Project Managers.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Standard Grade (1-2)/National 5 (A-B) or equivalent qualification in English and Maths or Computing.
A2 Basic working knowledge of MS Word/Excel/Internet/E-mail.
Desirable:
B1 Higher or Intermediate 2 or equivalent qualification in English and Maths or Computing.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Good interpersonal and communication skills.
C2 Good level of accuracy and attention to detail.
C3 Good organisational skills.
C4 Ability to use initiative and work proactively with some supervision and managerial guidance as required.
C5 Ability to work as a member of a team.
C6 Ability to work on a number of projects and to meet deadlines.
C7 Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
C8 Willingness and ability to learn new skills and technologies.
Experience
Essential:
E1 As this is a training post, no formal experience is required, although some experience in using computers and in dealing with people from school activities, hobbies or volunteer/part-time work would be helpful.
E2 Must be able to demonstrate that you would benefit from both the work experience and qualification element of the programme.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 2, £23,350 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and fixed term for up to 2 years from agreed start date.
