The Adam Smith Business School (ASBS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour (Learning, Teaching & Scholarship Track). You will contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by engaging in teaching, assessment and administration processes associated with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Potentially, you will also undertake scholarship to enhance learning and teaching in the Adam Smith Business School.

Job Purpose
The Adam Smith Business School seeks a dynamic and broadly trained individual to deliver and coordinate learning, teaching and associated activities such as assessment, dissertation supervision, quality assurance and delivering an excellent student experience. The post covers both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The post is learning, teaching, and scholarship focused.
At Grade 8, the job holder will make a substantial and positive contribution to the Subject/School’s programmes, scholarship and an excellent student experience through leading and contributing to teaching, assessment, and providing academic leadership and management associated with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and engaging in rigorous enquiries into learning and teaching practices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Deliver in-person a range of teaching, dissertation supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour.
2. Carry out course administration within required timescales ensuring effective communication of information, in particular assessment requirements and criteria and timely and constructive feedback on assessment.
3. Contribute to the on-going development and design of the curriculum in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour.
4. Make effective use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, course organisation, feedback and assessment. This may involve blended and/or online provision.
5. Ensure an inclusive and evidence-based approach to facilitating learning in a range of face-to-face delivery formats such as tutorials, lectures, and providing problem- based learning, that promotes student participation and learning outcome attainment.
6. Potentially participate in local activities associated with student recruitment [e.g. open days, summer school], orientation and induction and other School and University initiatives such as support for student transitions, employability and student mobility as appropriate.
7. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
8. Develop effective working relationships with students and, in partnership with relevant student services teams, respond appropriately to the diverse range of learning approaches and learner needs.
9. Potentially develop relationships with external stakeholders in support of knowledge exchange, public understanding and appropriate forms of outreach such as widening access.
10. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Heads of Cluster and Subject.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 A relevant PhD, or close to submission, in Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour or an allayed field; or equivalent teaching experience.
A2 Extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour. To be able to develop teaching programmes/methodologies/learning support.
For appointment at Grade 8:
A3 A growing reputation for scholarship within Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour.
Desirable:
B1 Experience of teaching human resource development and equality, diversity and inclusion/international human resource management.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Sufficient breadth and/or depth of knowledge in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour and of teaching methods and techniques to work within the subject area.
C2 Ability to communicate material of a specialist or highly technical nature and to be effective both orally and in writing at a level appropriate to the activity.
C3 Ability to apply policy, practice and procedures, including broader University/sector/external [e.g. commercial] awareness.
C4 Up-to-date knowledge and specialist understanding in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour, with an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students to inspire learning and to provide pastoral care to students within the subject area.
For appointment at Grade 8:
C5 Track record of scholarship and development and delivery of teaching, and proven ability to develop and devise teaching programmes, techniques and methods.
C6 Extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour, to develop teaching programmes/methodologies/learning support.
C7 Proven ability to design, review and enhance multiple learning, teaching and assessment programmes.
C8 Ability to communicate complex or conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding and develop early career academic colleagues.
C9 Continuing engagement with current practice and developing knowledge.
C10 Ability to contribute to broader leadership and management activities along with an awareness of current and future priorities of the University/College/School/Service.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Experience of planning and progressing work activities at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, applying initiative and independent judgement.
For appointment at Grade 8:
E2 Experience and achievement in Human Resource Management/Organisational Behaviour, in an expanding personal academic portfolio.
E3 Experience of developing and demonstrating teaching and research methods and devising models, approaches, techniques, critiques and methods.

Salary will be Grade 7/8, £41,064 - £46,049 / £50,253 - £58,225 per annum.
This post is full time and fixed term for up to 15 months from start date.
