Job Purpose

 

The School of Law is seeking an experienced administrator to contribute to the co-ordination of a new Independent Legal Advice (ILA) pilot for survivors of sexual violence in Scotland. The 3-year pilot, funded by the Scottish Government, is an initiative led by the Emma Ritch Law Clinic within the Glasgow Open Justice Centre (GO Justice) in the School of Law.  It will increase access to justice for complainers in sexual offences cases by providing independent advice to complainers in rape and attempted rape cases in Scotland.

The post-holder will support staff members in the School of Law, in the efficient delivery of the pilot by providing day-to-day coordination of client appointments, engaging with key stakeholders in the criminal justice system and assisting with monitoring and reporting.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

1.  Work closely with relevant members of ILA pilot staff (both legally and non-legally qualified) to ensure efficient and impactful delivery of the project.

 

2.  Undertake administrative duties, within required timescales, in support of the pilot including, for example, advertising and promoting the service; scheduling client appointments; administering relevant student training, maintaining the pilot’s client mangagement system through filing relevant documents and emails, coordinating client feedback and closely liaising with partner organisations as required.

 

3.  Administer and coordinate quality enhancement including monitoring, feedback and evaluation of the pilot.

 

4.  Plan events and activities relevant to the pilot including awareness raising, training and workshops including liaising with external speakers and other attendees as required.

 

5.  Assist with all publicity and communications in relation to the pilot and create outreach materials as required.

 

6.  Support with maintaining web content and wider communications relevant to the pilot; coordinate with the Glasgow Open Justice Centre Manager and others as required.

 

7.  Foster excellent working relationships with relevant criminal justice stakeholders including, for example, legal professionals and advocacy workers.

 

8.  Plan and prioritise own workload, anticipating pressures points to ensure all deadlines are met.

 

9.  Ensure full compliance with University-wide policies and procedures, including in relation to the management of confidential information and personal data.

 

10.  Undertake any other relevant duties appropriate to the post subsequently allocated.

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience

 

Knowledge/Qualifications

 

Essential 

A1 SCQF Level 7 (HNC, VQ3/4, Highers, City & Guilds or equivalent), or the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with the level of post, having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.

A2 Excellent IT knowledge, including Microsoft Office, especially MS Word and Excel.

A3 Knowledge or appreciation of the third sector and / or frontline public service provision in Scotland.

 

Desirable

B1 Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice / sexual violence landscape in Scotland.

 

Skills

D3 Demonstrable experience of creating and embedding qualitative and quantitative reporting tools to monitor project milestones.

 

Experience

 

Essential:

E1 Administrative experience, with evidence of progression and development.

E2 Demonstrable experience of being able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

E3 Demonstrable experience of working with a variety of stakeholders and building effective relationships.

E4 Demonstrable experience of supporting external communications and / or marketing.

 

Desirable:

F1 Experience of administering projects in a criminal justice setting.

F2 Experience of organising meetings, events and / or training.

 

Terms and Conditions

 

Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum.

 

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term until 31 March 2028.
