Job description
Job Purpose
This role will design, deliver and continuously improve user-centred digital experiences to help us redefine how students connect with the University of Glasgow. This role will support the implementation of an enterprise-wide Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system from Salesforce, where the initial phase is focused on the marketing, recruitment and admissions journey.
This role is part of the Digital Experience Team; a team focused on championing the best digital experiences for the UofG community and beyond. We design with purpose, lead digital vision, and provide digital change as-a-service.
The role is critical to shaping the design and delivery of user-first digital services, working with the wider CRM-implementation project team and external implementation partners. From initial research to detailed prototyping and testing, this role will ensure that our student-facing experiences are coherent, meaningful and inclusive.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead the design of end-to-end digital experiences that reflect real user needs and moments that matter.
2. Act as a strong advocate for users, ensuring their voice shapes design across projects, especially within our CRM programme.
3. Collaborate in agile, cross-functional teams with service designers, product owners, developers, analysts and researchers.
4. Turn insights into beautiful, accessible interfaces using tools like Figma, Adobe, or similar.
5. Design and run research and usability testing sessions with students and staff.
6. Coach colleagues and stakeholders on UX best practice, fostering a user-centred mindset across the university.
7. Continuously review and improve existing digital journeys.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
A2 Thorough knowledge and understanding of UX practices, accessibility standards, research ethics and user data protection.
A3 Demonstrable experience designing digital experiences based on evidence and user research.
A4 Strong track record creating wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity visuals.
Desirable:
B1 Operational knowledge of web content management system(s).
Skills
Essential:
C1 Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional agile teams, working together to deliver digital change.
C2 Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
C3 Comfortable leading UX work within agile projects and ceremonies.
C4 Confident in advocating for inclusive, accessible design across channels and platforms.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Experience in developing UX designs and prototypes, delivering user experiences that are based on data-led designed that evidence user needs.
E2 Demonstrable experience designing digital experiences based on evidence and user research.
E3 Significant relevant experience in workshop design and facilitation.
E4 Strong track record creating wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity visuals.
Desirable:
F1 Experience working in higher education or another complex, multi-stakeholder.
F2 Familiarity with the University's key marketing messages and strategic priorities.
F3 Experience designing journeys in Salesforce or another enterprise CRM platform.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £41,064 - £46,049 per annum.
This post is full time and fixed term for up to the 30th July 2027
