Job description
Job Purpose
The post-holder will make an important contribution to undergraduate teaching and enhancement of the student learning experience, with particular reference to clinical skills and patient safety. You will play a key role in advancing the Nursing & Health Care School's strategic aim to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research and education and will strengthen educational and clinical partnership working, positively contributing to the quality of future care provision. The post offers a development opportunity for those with an emerging interest in the sector to gain experience and develop skills for future career growth.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Contribute to a range of teaching, course support and assessment activities at undergraduate level.
2. Liaise with subject experts in order to develop appropriate teaching materials that meet learning objectives in the subject area.
3. Work with staff with relevant expertise to plan, deliver and evaluate a range of innovative teaching activities and strategies to address clinical skills development and the patient safety agenda in the BN (Hons) programme.
4. Provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning, using a variety of methods and techniques recommended by staff.
5. Contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate student projects as appropriate to the role.
6. Engage in clinical practice and relevant continuing professional development as appropriate to maintain a current knowledge and skill base to ensure application of current, research-informed teaching.
7. Work with others on educational and scholarship initiatives and, where appropriate, in preparing publications to support achievement of excellence in learning and teaching.
8. Contribute to quality assurance and enhancement activities, curriculum review and programme re-accreditation with the University and professional bodies, liaising with others, to ensure high quality education provision is maintained and to take opportunities for external examining.
9. Undertake a pastoral role for students and refer for additional support / guidance as appropriate.
10. Engage in academic professional development as appropriate.
11. Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan: University of Glasgow - Explore - Strategy 2025.

Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Honours degree or higher degree.
A2 Current adult nursing registration with the NMC.
Desirable:
B1 Professional teaching qualification.
Skills

C1 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

C4 Ability to work as part of a team.
C5 Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Experience

E1 Experience of teaching.

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum pro rata.
This post is part time, 14 hours per week to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive postholder returns.
