Please note that this vacancy is only open to current registered University of Glasgow students within the Adam Smith Business School, or candidates that will be commencing studies at University of Glasgow within the Adam Smith Business School in 2025.
Job Purpose
Are you passionate about your student journey and eager to help others start theirs? The Adam Smith Business School is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated incoming postgraduate taught (PGT) students to become part of our Student Ambassador team.
As a Student Ambassador, you will play an important role by sharing your story and honest advice with future students. Your experience will inspire and guide those thinking about joining a PGT programme at the Adam Smith Business School, helping them feel confident and excited to start their own journey.
What you will do:
* Share your experience by answering common questions about studying at the Adam Smith Business School, moving to Glasgow, and student life.
* Create engaging content such as written blogs, videos, and social media posts to showcase the student experience and promote the School.
* Represent the School at webinars, in-person events, and outreach activities, connecting directly with prospective students from around the world.
* Feature in photo and video shoots that showcase the student experience and support the School’s promotional efforts.
* Provide honest, helpful advice to support prospective students in making confident, informed decisions.
* Mentor future ambassadors by helping to train the next cohort of Student Ambassadors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. You will share your experience by answering common questions about studying at the Adam Smith Business School, moving to Glasgow, and student life, among others.
2. You will create interesting and easy-to-understand content like blogs, videos, and social media posts to show what student life is like and promote the School.
3. You will represent the School at online events (webinars), in-person events, such as Open Days, and other activities, talking directly with students who want to apply from around the world.
4. You will participate in photo and video shoots that showcase the student experience and support the School’s promotional efforts.
5. You will provide honest, helpful advice to support prospective students in making confident, informed decisions.
6. As this is a casual worker role, you will have the chance to choose which content tasks you want to volunteer for each month in order to earn payment.
7. You will have to submit your timesheets each month so we can make sure you get paid on time.
8. You will report to the Student Recruitment & Marketing Coordinator, who will review and approve your timesheets. Maintaining clear and regular communication will be key.
9. You show initiative and confidence by suggesting ideas for content that will help students decide to study at the Adam Smith Business School.
10. You will join training sessions before you start your role. And at the end of your role, you will help train and support new Student Ambassadors to prepare them for their roles.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Enrolled student who will begin their studies at the Adam Smith Business School in the 2025/26 academic year.
A2 Enthusiastic about the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School as a great place to learn and for Glasgow as a great place to live.
A3 Basic understanding of popular social media platforms (such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) and how they are used to share information and connect with others.
A4 Comfortable using Microsoft 365 tools including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams for communication, meetings, and teamwork.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Strong communication and interpersonal skills: able to share experiences clearly and respond positively to questions.
C2 Professional attitude: always act responsibly and represent the School and University with respect.
C3 Good time management and reliability: able to attend events on time, meet deadlines, and complete tasks while balancing academic work.
C4 Teamwork: able to work well with other ambassadors, staff, and faculty to achieve shared goals.
C5 Cultural awareness: respectful and inclusive when interacting with students from many different backgrounds.
C6 Initiative: willing to share ideas and take responsibility for tasks like creating content or supporting events.
Experience
Essential:
No previous experience required; full training will be provided.
Desirable:
F1 Familiarity with writing blogs, making videos, or telling stories through digital media.
F2 Experience creating social media content for personal, academic, or community purposes.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 3, £23,028 - £23,881 per annum pro rata.
This post is offered on a fractional basis of 70 hours (during term time) and is fixed term for up to one year.
