Job description

Job Purpose
The School of Law delivers employability, careers and experiential learning support to students on all Law programmes, taking into account the Scottish, rest of UK and international profile of the student cohorts and related opportunities. This role is to provide effective and proactive administrative support for the school’s employability and experiential learning programmes to ensure an excellent service and experience for both staff and students.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To be the lead administrator for employability and experiential learning opportunities within the school, delivering high quality support for the school’s employability agenda, liaising with academic leads, other colleagues within the school, cross-University colleagues and students.
2. Act as first point of contact for students, resolving complex queries while proactively identifying problems and taking responsibility for the communication of employability related information to students via the use of internal communication platforms.
3. Assist in the planning, delivery and hosting of employability-related events, engaging with internal colleagues and external organisations such as the Law Society of Scotland, Government departments and Scottish, UK and international law firms and speakers.
4. To liaise with internal and external contacts and stakeholders to provide specialist advice and support in the planning, creation and development of employability activity, events and opportunities, and associated post-event evaluation.
5. Support School staff and manage the employability intern in the development and promotion of new employability activity and opportunities for students on all programmes (LLB, LLM, DPLP, PGR).
6. Provide support for subject-specific careers events, workshops, seminars in conjunction with academic staff.
7. Promote experiential learning and employability events and opportunities across all programmes to students by creating promotional material and posting on webpages, social media, Moodle etc. Liaise with School, College and University communications teams as required.
8. Lead the School connection with College and University careers and employability teams, to ensure a joined up and cohesive support network for students.
9. Work with colleagues in the Development and Alumni Office to build effective connections and relationships with individuals and organisations, for the purpose of generating future employability opportunities and support.
10. Coordinate with the School GO Justice team to ensure a wide range of opportunities for students, including credit bearing placements and experience.
11. Other duties as directed by the Head of Professional Services and Student Experience and Digital Engagement Manager (line manager) and requested by academic colleagues (Employability Officer). Events and activity related to this role may be scheduled out with core working hours e.g. early evening. As such the role will occasionally require some work out with normal working hours.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Strong IT proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office knowledge, including Word and Excel.
A3 Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion policies and practice.
Desirable:
B1 Knowledge of the University of Glasgow systems, e.g., Moodle, MyCampus, T4
B2 Knowledge and understanding of higher education environment, especially in relation to employability and careers.
B3 Understanding of the legal sector generally, including international differences in legal sectors and/or careers opportunities.

Experience
Essential:
E1 Relevant work experience in student support and/or employability roles, showing growth and development within these roles.
E2 Experience of working with a wide variety of colleagues and key contacts, both internal and external to your immediate team/department/organisation.
E3 Experience of organising events and promoting participation with key audiences.
Desirable:
F1 Experience within a higher education setting. and/or
F2 Experience in legal education. and/or
F3 Experience in the professional legal sector
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 5, £27,319 - £31,236 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent).
