Job Purpose
As the administrator in the Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions team in the undergraduate office, you will work with the SMRA manager, to attract and retain a diverse range of applicants to the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine’s undergraduate programmes.
You will play a role in the implementation and delivery of the School’s strategies, policies, and objectives in this area. Your focus will be the School’s veterinary programmes (the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery and the MSci/BSc (Hons)/BSc Veterinary Biosciences), ensuring targets and service levels are met for both international and national recruitment.
As part of the Undergraduate school office, you will work in partnership with the student experience team and the programme and course delivery team.
You may also be asked to contribute to related activities managed by the University’s External Relations department and College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences for the School’s life sciences programmes (currently the MSci/BSc (Hons)/BSc Marine and Freshwater Biology and the MSci/BSc (Hons)/BSc Zoology).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Co-ordinate the delivery of essential recruitment and marketing events e.g. Open Day events and recruitment fairs, both at home and overseas to attract high quality applicants to the school’s undergraduate (BVMS and Veterinary Bioscience) degree programmes. This will involve working in close partnership with relevant academic and administrative colleagues in the University, external partner institutions and accrediting bodies, reviewing processes and implementing changes and improvements where appropriate.
2. Act as an ambassador for the School to maximise the recruitment, conversion and registration of students to meet student numbers and financial targets. This will include offering advice to applicants and others by telephone, e-mail and mail and ensuring publicity material is up to date and reflects internal changes in the University and any changes to external requirements.
3. Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of the Schools UG student admissions procedures onto the BVMS and Veterinary Biosciences programmes. This will involve reviewing applications, supporting the delivery of additional tests (e.g. online ethical reasoning test), and collection of additional applicant data (e.g. work experience forms) and organising (circa 700) applicant interviews.
4. Participate as a full panel member in UG applicant interviews (in Glasgow and overseas) to assess candidates’ potential to become veterinary surgeons.
5. Input to and maintain databases including the University central database linked to UCAS.
6. Organise relevant paperwork for overseas students as part of their admittance to their programme of study. Act as level 1 user for the University of Glasgow to assign confirmation of Acceptance for Studies/Certificates of Sponsorship numbers for all overseas students. 7. Ensure that student from partner universities are transferred in line with established agreements, and results are reported to partner institutions when appropriate and in line with relevant data protection legislation.
8. Ensure transfer of successful applicant details to the student experience team to allow efficient registration on their programmes of study.
9. Undertake committee servicing work which includes drafting and circulating papers to the Admissions Committee and ensure that actions are followed through and collect and analyse data for the Committee.
10. Any other relevant duties as required by the Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions Manager, UG School Manager & Head of Professional Services.

Essential
A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2. Knowledge and understanding of the University structure and knowledge of its broad policies and rules,
A3. An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles (including UK Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics) in the context of student recruitment, marketing and admissions.
Desirable
B1. An understanding of the university policies and procedures with regard to branding, marketing, recruitment and admissions
B2. Knowledge of School of Biodiversity One Health and Veterinary Medicine’s Undergraduate programmes

C1 Proficient at using Microsoft packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), including preparing and delivering PowerPoint presentations, reporting, recording recruitment activity and data analysis.

E2. Experience of arranging and clerking meetings.

F1 Experience of administration in a Higher Education setting.
F2 Experience in an admissions/selection environment.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum.
