Job Purpose
As a member of the Centre for Teaching Excellence, working in partnership with senior colleagues across the School, College, University, and our external partners, you will be responsible for managing our Centre for Teaching Excellence’s planning and execution.
You will build excellent relationships to deliver partnership working across the centre work streams alongside strong project and financial management skills, including ensuring adherence to internal and external regulatory and governance requirements. The role will be line managed directly by the Research Operations Manager and will also report to the Director the centre.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for Coordination of Centre for Teaching Excellence including management of all related financial budgets, management of all governance and delivery of the key workstreams.
2. Provision of regular updates/ progress reports to stakeholders including issues and risks with the delivery of appropriate mitigation/ solutions.
3. Collate, analyse and report on management information for various stakeholders to support effective decision-making.
4. Interpret relevant funder requirements of CTE application to provide accurate advice and support to stakeholders.
5. Participate as an active member and coordinator of the relevant CTE committees and manage and organise effective support for these. –including producing notes ahead of meetings, supporting the working groups and associated Microsoft Team channels.
6. Act as main contact point for the Centre Steering Group: receive all project communications, coordinate responses to project business, and keep up to date with meetings and deadlines.
7. Develop and maintain good relationships with key contacts across University of Glasgow and partners, attending any relevant meetings when required.
8. Coordinate, monitor and record CTE activity, working with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure maintenance of an accurate and complete record of engagement, activity undertaken, and progress made against objectives.
9. Support the internal communications promotion of the CTE to the University communities to generate interest and participation, as well as to disseminate impact/benefit.
10. Support the creation of web-based resources to share project developments and CTE related updates with colleagues, students and partners.
11. Provide the necessary briefings/reports to support the presentation of the CTE to School, College, External Relations and University of Glasgow Senior Management.

Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential
A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
A2 Knowledge of governance and business processes in a large complex organisation.
A3 Knowledge of Quality Assurance and related practices.
A4 Knowledge of process improvement and change management.
A5 Knowledge of people/HR management policies and practices.
Desirable
B1 Knowledge and understanding of Adam Smith.
B2 Knowledge of the structure, configuration and delivery of large scale projects within a University setting.
Skills
Essential
C1 Proven track record of successful project management and process improvement delivery, showing excellent planning, organisational and negotiation skills.
C2 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop, deliver and articulate a clear vision and produce high-quality governance documentation and other written content for various audiences.
C3 Well developed and demonstrable team management and leadership skills with the ability to empower and motivate others to deliver a high performance in a participative manner.
C4 Highly developed interpersonal, stakeholder management and business partnering skills including tact, diplomacy and discretion to work effectively with a diverse community of students and senior staff in a variety of partner universities and organisations.
C5 Ability and confidence to work independently and use professional initiative and judgement to set own priorities and targets whilst managing team priorities.
C6 Ability to work accurately, use initiative and creativity to problem solve and manage tight deadlines.
C7 Ability to anticipate and resolve administrative and logistical problems and remain resilient and able to maintain momentum in the face of challenges.
C8 Excellent IT and data analysis skills and a high level of numeracy, including understanding financial planning and the ability to extract and present management information for varied and complex issues.
C9 Ability to develop operational plans to support strategic initiatives.

D1 Verbal and written proficiency in a second/multiple European language(s).
Experience
Essential
E1 Three years’ experience in a relevant role (with qualifications or evidence of progression) and development gained from relevant work experience.
E2 Demonstrable experience of working in a highly administrative and governance driven environment.
E3 Demonstrable experience of managing and developing staff and ensuring the application of effective performance management arrangements that drive effective, efficient and high-quality service delivery.
E4 Significant experience of developing and delivering high-quality customer services that meet multiple user needs.
E5 Prior experience of interpreting regulations, providing high quality advice and guidance to others on governance, compliance and service delivery matters.
E6 Management and monitoring of financial budgets.
E7 experience of developing and implementing change and improvement initiatives related to administrative policies and processes.
Desirable
F1 Working within the Higher Education sector, preferably in a academic-facing and/or research or project support capacity.
F2 Working with/in and building effective relationships with World-Wide Higher Education Institutions.
F3 experience developing governance documentation in relation to multi-level matrix style projects in a Higher Education environment.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £41,064 - £46,049 per annum pro rata.
This post is part time (17.5 hours per week) and fixed term until 31 March 2027 in the first instance.
