Job description

Job Purpose

As part of the Transformation Team, this 12-month fixed term Business Analyst role will support the implementation of the University’s new CRM platform, Salesforce. You will work closely with stakeholders across marketing, recruitment and admissions functions to understand current processes, define future needs, and co-create solutions that transform the experience of students and colleagues, and improve operational efficiency.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

*         Provide specialist advice: Offer specialist business analysis aligned to CRM project objectives and the university’s strategic goals.

*         Critical friend: Able to expertly challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose, scoping change and shaping potential solutions.

*         Define requirements: Critically assess current and future state processes and use business analysis tools to define/refine functional, non-functional and integration requirements for the Salesforce platform.

*         Manage requirements: Support maintenance of documentation, ongoing prioritisation, change tracking and traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

*         Liaison: Serve as the bridge between the business and technical teams, clarifying requirements and ensuring alignment.

*         Conduct analysis: Analyse current CRM-related processes and data flows, presenting outputs and recommendations.

*         Solution design: Assist in designing solutions that bridge the gap between business needs and Salesforce capabilities.

*         Workshop facilitation: Facilitate workshops with diverse stakeholders to gather insights and validate proposed solutions.

*         Build relationships: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful CRM implementation and adoption.

*         Process improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes which are being moved into the new Salesforce platform.

*         Testing support: Create test cases and test scripts and support their execution as part of pre-release testing.

 

Knowledge and Qualifications/Skills/Experience

 

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary professional knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent, including professional accreditation with formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).

A2. Demonstrable knowledge of systems, tools, and methods as a Business Analyst which have been gained through transformational change.

A3.  Familiarity with CRM systems, ideally Salesforce.

 

Desirable:

B1. Understanding of Higher Education organisations.

B2. Familiarity with Agile project delivery and software testing methodologies e.g. ISTQB.

B3. Familiarity with integration middleware solutions e.g. Boomi.

B4. Knowledge of data integration design.

 

Skills

Essential:

C1. Expertise in developing functional and non-functional requirements, including presenting ouputs to various stakeholders.

C2. Expertise in data mapping and in developing detailed integration requirements, including presenting ouputs to various stakeholders.

C3. Highly effective communication and influencing skills.

C4. Ability to build credibility and work collaboratively with stakeholders.

C5. Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise work effectively.

C6. Skilled facilitator with a flexible and resilient approach in complex environments.

C7. Ability to work independently, using initiative and judgment**.**

C8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Desirable:

D1. Ability to navigate project tools such as Jira and Confluence.

 

Experience

Essential:

E1. Experience in business analysis and project environments within the private/public sector.

E2. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team delivering transformational change.

E3. Experience developing reports, presentations, and workshops to present findings and recommendations.

 

Desirable:

F1. Experience supporting CRM implementations, ideally Salesforce.

F2. Experience in the analysis and design work required to support the development of system integrations.

F3. Experience of data collection and analysis to support the post implementation measurement of benefits.

 

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £41,064 - £46,049 per annum.

 

This post is full time and fixed term for up to 12 months from agreed start date.
