Job Purpose

 

As a barista, for a well-known Glasgow brand, you will cover all elements of the operation, both front of house customer service and presentation and delivery of the food offering. We are looking for a skilled barista to contribute to deliver an atmosphere where guests have a great customer experience, that is both welcoming and engaging.

 

We are a fast-paced team who pride ourselves in making great coffee. You will be a key team player and demonstrate passion and pride in what you do.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. To assist in the preparation and provision of all food and drinks being served and to ensure that this meets the required standards of the Food Safety Policy.

2. Ensure thorough and up to date knowledge and understanding of menu and special offers, in order to provide relevant information to our customers.

3. To ensure the hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness of the catering and café areas, whilst adhering to Health and Safety and Hygiene policies.

4. Demonstrate a passion for customer service excellence and offer a personalised service experience that exceeds customer expectation.

5. Responsible for cash handling in line with cash handling procedures.

6. Liaise and communicate with customers and colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.

7. To assist in the control of food and non-food items ensuring that the compliance of the department policies on storage and issuing of all stock procedures are always adhered to. This will include assisting with stocktaking.

8. Demonstrate a positive attitude and flexible working approach to meet the demands of the operation or individual units.

9. Meet all legislative and policy requirements including COSHH.

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

Knowledge/Qualifications

 

Essential:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.

A2 Food Safety Level 1 (to be completed within first week) followed by Food Safety Level 2 (to be completed within first 3 months).

A3 Good working knowledge of Food Safety and Health and Safety Awareness.

 

Desirable:

B1 Food Safety Level 2.

B2 Allergen Awareness.

 

Skills

 

Essential:

C1 Ability to work well under pressure.

C2 Basic computer skills and experience.

C3 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

C4 Adaptable and Flexible approach to work.

C5 Strong organisational and customer service skills.

C6 Team player who is committed and enthusiastic.

C7 Strong understanding of coffee and latte art.

 

Experience

 

Essential:

E1 Demonstratable previous experience of working in a customer facing environment.

E2 Experience of working independently and as part of a team.

E3 Previous experience of operating a till system.

 

Terms & Conditions

 

For a well-known Glasgow brand.

Salary will be £13.45  per hour.

 

This post is open ended (permanent) and is full time with a working pattern of 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility may be required by mutual agreement and there may be some weekend and public holiday working.
