Job Purpose 

To provide support to the Software and Asset Management service provided by the End User Computing Team, assisting the asset management administrator and asset management support officer with day-to-day operational support for the service and daily procurement of IT Hardware, stock inventory and customer orders.

This role will also be involved in the day-to-day management of any third-party services required by the Asset Management Team.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

1.       Assist the asset management administrator and asset management support officer with day-to-day operational management of the Hardware and Software Asset Management Service

2.       Assist the asset management administrator and asset management support officer with the daily procurement of IT hardware for the various colleges in the university.

3.       Assist with the management of IT stock including inventory checks as and when required.

4.       Assist with the delivery/pickup of customer orders.

5.       Liaising with internal tech teams to ensure end customer kit is configured for end users.

6.       Provide accurate information on software licences including renewal & maintenance records.

7.       Liaise with internal resource team for good receiving and enquires.

8.       These endeavours are supported by a cross University team of IT and AV staff both in Information Services and in the Colleges.  The post holder will assist this cross disciplinary group by providing Asset Management services.

9.       The post holder will work closely with any third-party suppliers engaged to deliver Asset Management Services to the University, to design and implement the new Asset Management service

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

 

Knowledge/Qualifications  

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

OR Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.

A2 Knowledge and understanding of hardware procurement.

A3 Use of Microsoft Office Packages – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

 

Desirable:

B1 Knowledge of the workings of financial/procurement systems withing the University.

 

Skills 

Essential:

C1 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with all grades of staff both internally and externally.

C2 Numeracy and the ability to understand and communicate financial information.

C3 Ability to work in a change environment independently and as part of a team.

C4 Ability to organise & prioritise own workload, work with minimum supervision and to multi-task.

C5 Accurate Keyboard skills with a working knowledge of the 365 apps.

 

Desirable:

D1 Knowledge and understanding of IT hardware and software including the Universities internal IT Systems.

D2 Ability to use Agresso accurately for purchased related queries

 

Experience

Essential:

E1 Experience of working in a customer focused environment.

E2 Experience of working under pressure and prioritising workload.

E3 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.

E4 Experience of working effectively in a IT environment at an appropriate level.

E5 Experience of multi–tasking, using own initiative and being customer orientated.

 

Desirable:

F1 Experience of working in a Higher Education environment.

F2 Good working knowledge of Agresso and University financial processes.

 

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 4, £25,804 - £27,319 per annum.
