Job description

Job Purpose

To design, develop, implement and maintain the University’s corporate Salesforce platform, providing solutions across the administrative, teaching and research functions of the university in accordance with agreed University objectives. To deliver solutions which maximise service quality and efficiency and meet service standards and requirements.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Gather, analyse and document business requirements and use these to develop appropriate technical solutions.

2.      Collaborate with senior developers, business analysts and other cross-functional team members to develop and maintain the Salesforce platform, following technical standards, and ensuring at all stages that the solutions delivered meet user requirements and expectations.

3.      Create detailed design specifications and technical documentation following standard templates.

4.      Test Salesforce features and solutions robustly and continuously to ensure quality and functionality is maintained, including performance and integration testing.

5.      Work with colleagues to provide information and input to user and help guides and deliver user training and familiarisation sessions.

6.      Provide system support, monitoring systems to ensure satisfactory availability and performance. Provide third line user support to a high standard of customer service at all times, resolving day-to-day problems which could originate from technical problems or business related issues.

7.      Ensure compliance with University policies and IT Services technical working procedures and professional standards.

8.      Plan daily workload in line with work schedules agreed by the team, providing estimates of technical work where required; share updates at daily stand ups and manage tasks using tracking software.

9.      Apply the principles of security by design, adhering to security policies and running security tests according to established working procedures.

 

10.   Ensure continued familiarisation with new technologies and keep skills up-to-date

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

Knowledge/Qualifications  

Essential:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s) Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, 10 or 11 (Ordinary/Honours Degree, Post Graduate Qualification), or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2 Technical knowledge of Salesforce architecture, configuration, and development tools.

A3 Professional working knowledge of Agile software development practices (e.g. story point estimation, Scrum ceremonies, etc.)

Desirable:

B1 Salesforce Platform Developer I certification.

B2 Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Administrator certification.

B3 A general understanding of FOI and DPA legislation.

 

Skills

Essential:

C1 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate and devise technical solutions to a range of problems to facilitate learning, teaching and support services.

C2 Ability to acquire complex technical knowledge in a rapid and ever-changing environment.

C3 Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.

C4 Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective relationships and work well with others in a cross-functional team environment.

C5 Self-motivated, displaying initiative and enthusiasm.

 

Experience

Essential:

E1 Professional experience of the full development lifecycle including requirements analysis and integration design, development and testing.

E2 Professional experience working in a corporate development team environment, working collaboratively to deadlines.

E3 Professional experience of planning daily workload using own judgement and initiative to estimate and deliver based on the solution which delivers most value to the organisation and its stakeholders.

Desirable:

F1 Experience implementing a Salesforce platform in a large, complex organisation.

F2 Experience in developing custom objects, triggers, flows, and Lightning components.

F3 Professional experience working within multi-skilled agile project teams.

 
 

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £41,064 - £46,049 per annum.
