Job Purpose

You will contribute to an ESRC Impact Acceleration Account project, titled: “Scaling educational and policy impact through co-designed digital and AI professional learning and educational resources: A collaborative pathway of knowledge exchange and toolkit dissemination [SCOPED]”, working with Dr Mark Peart (PI), Dr. Gabriella Rodolico (Co-I) and Dr. Lavinia Hirsu (Co-I) from the School of Education. The successful candidate will assist on work package tasks also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and future proposals as well as any additional tasks that opportunities allow for within the project.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Perform the following activities in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Principal/Co Investigator:

1.           Plan and conduct assigned research tasks individually or jointly in accordance with the    project deliverables and project/School/College research strategy. In particular:

§   Support the planning and delivery of engagement activities in schools with practitioners, gathering, documenting, and synthesizing participant feedback and ensuring practitioner insights directly inform ongoing analysis and iterative development of the toolkit sections.

§   Undertake analytical and evaluative activities, contributing to analysis and write‑up of observations and reflective notes and delivery of workshops with teachers

§   Contribute to the data analysis and writing

§   Participate in selected school visits along with the research team and take a leading role in the co‑creation of project materials (i.e. developing accessible, well‑designed resources in collaboration with partners).

§   Support the organisation of the showcase day dissemination activities, including social media publications and supporting the organization of the II International Symposium on AI in Education.

2.           Document research output including analysis and interpretation of all data, maintaining records and databases, drafting technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate.

3.           Develop and enhance your research profile and reputation and that of The University of Glasgow and School of Education, including contributing to publications of international quality in high profile/quality refereed journals, enhancing the research impact in terms of economic/societal benefit, and gathering indicators of esteem.

4.           Contribute to the presentation of work at international and national conferences, at internal and external seminars, colloquia and workshops to develop and enhance our research profile.

5.           Contribute to the identification of potential funding sources and to assist in the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies to support future research.

6.           Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team/ group/ meetings/ seminars/ workshops across the research school of education and wider community.

7.           Perform administrative tasks related to the activities of the research group and School, including Budgets and Expenditure.

8.           Carry out modest Teaching activities [e.g. demonstrating etc.] and associated admin as assigned by the Head of School and in consultation with Principal Investigator.

9.           Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline.

10.        Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.

11.        Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School/Director of Research Institute.

12.        Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential

A1 SCQF Level 10 [Honours degree] in Education or a cognate discipline, or equivalent

A2 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of AI in Education, Digital Education, Professional Enquiry and/or Teacher’s Professional Development.

A3 A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the wider subject area or subject specialism

Desirable

B1 An awarded [or recently submitted or near completion] PhD in subject specialism or equivalent

E1 Sufficient relevant research experience [or equivalent] appropriate to an early career researcher

E2 Project or subject specific experience

E3 Experience working with educational stakeholders and/or schools and/or with practitioners in Scotland

E4 Knowledge and/or experience undertaking qualitative, participatory and/or design-based research projects.

E5 Experience of scientific writing

E6 Proven ability to deliver quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner

Desirable

F1 Experience in research dissemination and communication, including producing accessible outputs for non-academic audiences (e.g. policy briefs, reports, digital content).

F2 Experience supporting knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement activities, such as workshops, events, or collaborations with external partners.

F3 Ability to translate research into clear, engaging content, with experience using digital tools and platforms to support communication and impact.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum pro rata.

This post is offered on a 12 month fixed term and fractional basis for a minimum of 136 hours from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027. Salary will be pro-rated to the number of hours assigned to and worked by you.
