Job description

This vacancy is open to current University of Glasgow employees only.

Job Purpose

You will contribute to a project (The power of the Eurosystem to address climate change as owner and operator of T2) that aims to explore the legal obligations of the Eurosystem, in its capacity as owner and operator of T2, to take into account the impact of T2 on climate change. You will be working with Prof. Javier Solana. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as opportunities allow.

The main output of the project will be an academic paper that develops a doctrinal analysis of relevant provisions of EU law, international law and international environmental law to investigate whether those provisions give rise to any legal obligations binding the Eurosystem and the nature of those obligations. The research will be informed by doctrinal analyses of the application of relevant international law and international environmental law provisions in other jurisdictions, particularly those jurisdictions where courts have examined the international and climate legal obligations of central banks; most notably, Brazil.

4.           Contribute to the identification of potential funding sources and to assist in the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies to support future research.

5.           Collaborate with colleagues and participate in project team meetings as well as in external seminars and workshops as part of the project.

6.           Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline.

7.           Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School/Director of Research Institute.
