Job Purpose
To work on a 24 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership funded programme to develop LEAP, an AI-powered platform that transforms teaching and formative assessment through personalised, adaptive learning by integrating evidence-based pedagogy with real-time analytics, enhancing educator effectiveness and student engagement while providing dynamic feedback based on student performance profiling to improve student learning outcomes.
The industrial partner for this project is AWTG Limited (https://www.awtg.co.uk/). AWTG Limited is an integrated software and telecom engineering solutions provider specialising in connectivity and AI-first solutions. With its strong foundation in telecommunications, AWTG has strategically expanded into AI and software solutions, developing several commercial platforms and applications leveraging its Gen-AI product.
The post will be predominantly based at AWTG’s site in London with visits to the University of Glasgow campus.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. The Associate must bridge AWTG's technology experience with specialised educational Large Language Models (LLM) knowledge. During Stage 1, the Associate will need to develop an initial LLM model design with query classification and RAG systems. In Stages3-4, the Associate will face challenges integrating LLM components for interoperable deployment and fine-tuning models for educational contexts while ensuring ethical implementation. Translating rapidly evolving Gen-AI capabilities into functional educational tools requires continuous technical adaptation throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Bridging academic research and commercial implementation demands exceptional communication skills. In Stage 2, the Associate must develop a pedagogical framework that translates complex educational theories into practical LLM designs. The Associate must communicate complex AI concepts to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds and facilitate knowledge transfer between university researchers and business teams.
3. Developing deep understanding of educational technology applications is essential. In Stage 1, the Associate will conduct comprehensive literature reviews and gather stakeholder requirements. During Stages 4-5, the Associate will engage directly with students, teachers, and administrators for beta testing and feedback collection, requiring rapid acquisition of education sector expertise.
4. In Stages 5-6, the Associate must align LEAP's features with market demands while differentiating LEAP in the competitive EdTech landscape to position AWTG for post-KTP success.
5. The associate will deliver the project on time and on budget and shall be the driving force in ensuring that the developed product features and capabilities are groundbreaking and in the leading edge of the possibilities of an educational AI.
6. The associate will work alongside AWTG’s development teams and stakeholders adhering to AWTG’s policies and ensure that AWTG’s goals and objectives for the project are met.
The position offers the KTP Associate the following benefits:
