Job Purpose
Working with the Head of International Relations and as part of a small but dynamic team, this post will provide knowledge, oversight, and strategic support in delivering the University’s global ambitions.
The post will focus on the delivery of high-level professional support and advice to colleagues across the University and with key internal and external stakeholders. This will include working with the Deputy Vice Chancellor External Engagement, Assistant Vice-Principal International, Deans of Global Engagement, and College International Deans.
It will involve providing operational management and oversight of the University’s central internationalisation initiatives and projects, including CIVIS, internal funding opportunities, and engagement with priority partners such as Sydney and Radboud.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Directly support the Head of International Relations across a range of strategic projects and initiatives which deliver the University’s global ambitions.
Support the International Strategy Delivery Board meetings by arranging the quarterly meetings, circulating papers, preparing agendas, and clerking the meetings.
Provide overall management and direction to the University’s strategic internal funding schemes for international activity, specifically the Radboud-Glasgow Collaboration Fund and the University of Sydney Ignition Grant Awards.
2.Consult and work with senior colleagues and international partners to ensure the successful delivery of these funds on an annual basis. Responsibility for the distribution and monitoring of associated budgets.
3. Manage the University’s process for developing Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with international higher education institutions.
Be the first point of contact for MoUs and provide guidance and expert advice to staff across the University on the development of MoUs and the undertaking due diligence.
4. Work with Deans for Global Engagement and College International Deans across a range of strategic partnership activities by contributing knowledge and providing practical support to partner activities.
In particular, work closely with the Dean for Global Engagement for Europe to lead and take forward the work of the Radboud-Glasgow Joint Steering Group and ensure that the collaboration thrives.
5. Provide strategic support to Glasgow’s engagement with the CIVIS Alliance by leading on defined work streams of the project, in cooperation with 10 international partners.
Working closely with the CIVIS Project Manager, provide project support in line with objectives, deliverables and future planning of Alliance activities.
6. Support strategic international partnership activity across the University by undertaking thorough research and preparing insightful briefing notes on international institutions, and sometimes on a regional level, in preparation of high-level visits and events.
7. As an active member of the Internationalisation Team, take on responsibility for projects which are shared across the team, such as international events which take place across the year to engage and inform the internal University staff community.
8. Undertake any other ad hoc duties as are assigned by the International Partnerships and Policy Manager.

Essential:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar role(s). Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
Desirable:
B1 Knowledge of the UK higher education sector.
B2 Knowledge of the major trends underpinning the internationalisation of higher education.
B3 Knowledge of international relations and inter-cultural relations.

E1 Experience of research, project work and evaluation.

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and open ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
