Job description

Job Purpose
Working with the Head of Employer Engagement the post-holder will be tasked with actively managing on-going relationships with employers and a portfolio of employer events to strengthen student employability and increase graduate recruitment opportunities. The post holder will proactively identify and facilitate new connections with a wide, varied and diverse range of employers in-line with agreed departmental Key Performance Indicators (KIPs) and targets, underpinned by institutional strategies.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assist with the strategic development and operational management of a new employer engagement strategy underpinned by clearly defined KPIs and targets.
2. Proactively identify new areas of growth for employer engagement by monitoring economic and business development opportunities. This should include local SMEs, charities and not-for-profit organisations, as well as national and international businesses covering all industries.
3. Line manage a Senior Employer Engagement Coordinator (1FTE) and Event Managers (1.4 FTE) to nurture on-going employer relationships and a portfolio of engaging mutually beneficial employer events to support the development of connections. Provide line management for the departmental administrator (1FTE), ensuring effective coordination of operational and administrative support across Careers, Employability & Opportunity. Identify clear tasks, processes and deadlines.
4. Lead a review of employer services and events, taking into consideration employer and student feedback, to ensure relevance, continuous quality improvement and innovation.
5. Work collaboratively with the Employer Engagement Team, Academic Partnerships, and other relevant colleagues across the University to embed and enhance employer service provision, ensuring alignment with employability and experiential learning priorities. Support effective delivery processes, marketing to employers, and work within a defined budget.
6. Identify and represent the university at networking and stakeholder events to generate new business connections.
7. Effectively record engagement and evaluate impact to inform future provision.
8. This will include producing reports for the Head of Employer Engagement aligned to agreed KPIs and targets.
9. Create and maintain effective and sustainable partnerships with a range of internal stakeholders, to ensure the successful delivery of employer services, including CEO colleagues, student organisations, and employability contacts across Colleges and Schools.
10. To represent the University on professional groups, sector-wide forums and committees as required.
11. Perform other duties as requested, consistent with the grade level of the position and agree appropriate prioritisation of work with line management or other relevant stakeholders as needed.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Either: ability to demonstrate the competences required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
A2 Knowledge of operating systems or Customer Relationship Management Systems related to business development.
A3 Knowledge of the graduate labour market and issues surrounding the employability of students.
A4 Thorough knowledge and understanding of health and safety procedures, regulations and legislation, associated with the role.
A5 Demonstratable understanding of market trends and industry developments to inform decision-making and successful project outcomes.
Desirable:
B1 Knowledge of MyCampus and Qlikview systems.

C1 Proven people management skills.
C2 Strong interpersonal skills including negotiating, motivating, influencing and relationship building.
C3 Proven track record of effective team working to shared goals.
C4 Excellent communication, including presentation and report-writing skills.

Experience
Essential:
E1 Track-record of identifying opportunities and developing strong relationships for mutual benefit.
E2 Experience of line managing, motivating and developing a team towards shared goals.
E3 Experience of working in a careers or business development environment with practical experience in a similar or related role or evidence of progression and development gained through relevant work experience.
E4 Track-record of designing, securing and delivering employer engagement opportunities relevant to the role within professional guidelines and organisational policy, applying initiative and independent judgement.
E5 Experience of managing and controlling budgets and understanding of financial management procedures.
E6 Experience of applying initiative and knowledge to make informed decisions on a wide range of employer-related issues.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £41,064 - £46,049 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent).
